Wow, I didn’t know about this one…Lotus Cars USA has their own web store up and running where you can buy what appears to be all the Lotus merchandise that was formerly available only from the Lotus UK store! Very, very nice, and about time! I’ve ordered stuff from the UK store and while service is excellent, shipping is naturally slow and the exchange rate has never been very favorable. Von Hep has come out with some custom designed storage bags for use in the interior of an Elise or Exige. The first is designed to fit in the parcel shelf ($40); the second is sized for behind the rear seats ($50). Or, buy both bags and save $10. Pretty cool; I’ve been waiting for someone to come out with something like this! The bags are made from ballistic nylon with a thin foam liner to provide some cushioning during those spirited drives on the back roads. Check ‘em out at the Von Hep website.

The latest issue of Winding Road Magazine has an article on the Lotus Exige 265E, the ethanol-powered proof of concept vehicle introduced some time back. It’s an interesting read, and makes me want to buy one! Go check it out, the magazine is free and worth subscribing to!

Congratulations to the Quiznos Lotus Racing team! Their #3 car, a Krypton Green Exige driven by Richard Eisenberg, won the GT3 Central America championship! There’s a fantastic writeup of their season over at EliseTalk that I recommend reading. They had quite a year!

I had a blast at the Golden Gate Lotus Club’s track day at Laguna Seca today! The weather was perfect, partly cloudy with temperatures around 60. The track was dry as a bone, with excellent coverage of corner workers. I was able to keep pace with my run group (intermediate group), such that after the first couple of laps (I’m do relatively slow warmup laps, I’ve come to realize), I rarely had to pull aside to help someone pass. Unfortunately, one Elise ended up in a wall in a really bad way and is undoubtedly totaled. You can view some pictures from the day over in the Gallery.
