I know I’ve seen these pics on EliseTalk before, but a friend emailed me the link just today and I thought this was worth sharing. It’s a widebody Lotus Exige, and is very nicely done. No word on whether this is available in the US yet, though I think it’s only a matter of time before someone imports this body. You can view more pictures at Bodyshop-Kobayashi.

I had a blast at the Golden Gate Lotus Club’s track day at Laguna Seca today! The weather was perfect, partly cloudy with temperatures around 60. The track was dry as a bone, with excellent coverage of corner workers. I was able to keep pace with my run group (intermediate group), such that after the first couple of laps (I’m do relatively slow warmup laps, I’ve come to realize), I rarely had to pull aside to help someone pass. Unfortunately, one Elise ended up in a wall in a really bad way and is undoubtedly totaled. You can view some pictures from the day over in the Gallery. I’ll have more pictures of my car up soon, I need to get them from the photographers still…

I came across a photo gallery of a nice looking Exige with a custom widebody. It’s a bit over the top, but has a great, menacing look with its aggressive body and black paint. Click on the link to go to the site with more pictures.

Lotus has released more information and pictures of the Elise’s cousin, the new Europa. The Europa shares much with the Elise, the differences being a different body and a more refined approach (larger trunk, fixed roof). The turbocharged powertrain is not US legal, though there’s nothing stopping Lotus from giving the Europa the same 190hp Toyota motor that the US Elise has and bringing this car to the US.
